An unalloyed ('pure') non-heat treatable rolled aluminium sheet engineered for general sheet metal work in which excessive mechanical residences are not required.
Internationally acknowledged grade EN AW 1050A H14 – 99.50% pure aluminium (AL 99.5) sheet pressure hardened to the half-hard temper. The preceding BS specification turned into called S1B and the half of-hard temper was called H4, giving S1B H4. Champak Industries range of 1050A will meet all suitable countrywide/global standards.
Reading the text: “Internationally acknowledged grade” means an internationally recognised grade. “EN AW 1050A H14” is alloy 1050A in the half-hard strain-hardened temper H14.
1050A Aluminium Plates: Purchasing Specification
| Requirement | What to specify |
|---|---|
| Alloy and temper | State both, for example 5083-H116 or 6061-T651; properties depend on the temper. |
| Standard | ASTM B209 / ASME SB209 for plate and sheet, or EN 485 / EN 573; ASTM B928 for marine-service plate in the high-magnesium alloys, as the pages cite. |
| Dimensions | Thickness × width × length in mm or inches; number of plates or total weight. |
| Cutting | Sawing or waterjet cutting to your drawing; give tolerances and edge finish. |
| Welding | Weldability depends on the alloy: the 5xxx and 6xxx alloys weld readily, while high-strength 2xxx and 7xxx alloys are generally not arc-welded. State the process. |
| Documents | Mill test certificate (EN 10204 3.1) with chemistry, temper and mechanical properties. |
Machining
Pure aluminium has most effective honest machinability due to the softness of the alloy. The half-hard temper will increase the hardness over the annealed/gentle base alloy but could not be defined as free chipping as compared to the harder, alloyed aluminium's.
Reading the text: “Only honest machinability” means only fair machinability, and “edge construct-up” means built-up edge on the cutting tool.
We recommend aluminium geometry slicing equipment walking at an inexpensive speed to keep away from the threshold construct-up which could arise at lower reducing speeds. Excessive pace steel equipment may be greater within your means than carbide, specifically with the possibility of a huge rake attitude on machines which cannot attain carbide reducing speeds.
Specification
Champak Industries Stock Aluminium flat rolled product is most commonly specified to ASTM B209M. Product designated as plate for ship building in very specific alloys and tempers in compliance with ASTM B928M.
Standards: ASTM B209M is the metric edition of ASTM B209 for aluminium sheet and plate. ASTM B928M covers high-magnesium alloy sheet and plate for marine service, so it applies to the 5xxx marine alloys rather than to 1050A.

How the Eighteen Aluminium Alloys Differ
The eighteen pages cover aluminium alloys from several families. The 1xxx, 3xxx and 5xxx alloys are non-heat-treatable and gain strength by cold work, while the 2xxx, 6xxx and 7xxx alloys are heat-treatable. The 5xxx magnesium alloys are the usual marine and welded-structure choice; the 2xxx and 7xxx alloys are the high-strength aerospace alloys.

Cutting, Fabrication and Welding
Champak Industries describes full and part plate/profile supply and a plasma-cutting service. Send drawings, quantities, tolerances and edge preparation for your parts. Aluminium plate can be sawn, waterjet cut or machined to your drawing. Weldability depends on the alloy: the 5xxx and 6xxx alloys weld readily with a suitable filler, while the high-strength 2xxx and 7xxx alloys are generally not arc-welded. Send the alloy, temper and drawing with your enquiry.

1050A Aluminium Plates: Frequently Asked Questions
01What is 1050A Aluminium Plates?
1050A (EN AW 1050A) is an unalloyed, non-heat-treatable aluminium of at least 99.5% purity, with low strength and good formability, used for general sheet-metal work where high mechanical properties are not needed.
02What is 1050A aluminium?
An unalloyed (99.5% pure) non-heat-treatable aluminium, listed as EN AW 1050A H14, the half-hard temper; the former British designation was S1B H4.
03How machinable is 1050A?
Only fairly: it is soft, and the half-hard temper helps a little. The page advises geometry cutting tools at a reasonable speed to avoid built-up edge.
04Which applications does the page list?
General sheet-metal work, packaging, boiler making, heat transfer devices, kitchenware, the chemical, pharmaceutical and automotive industries, architecture, cabinets, appliances, vessels and panelling.
05Can 1050A be welded?
It depends on the alloy and temper. The 5xxx and 6xxx alloys weld readily with a suitable filler; high-strength 2xxx and 7xxx alloys are generally not arc-welded. Ask for welding advice for your alloy.
06Which certificate should I request?
An EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate showing the alloy and temper, lot number, chemistry and mechanical properties.
07Can another alloy replace 1050A?
Alloys of the same family are comparable, not identical. Strength, corrosion resistance, weldability and formability differ, so confirm any substitution with your engineer.
08Can 1050A plate be cut to size?
Yes. Plate can be sawn or waterjet cut to your drawing; send the drawing, quantities and tolerances with your enquiry.
09Which sizes are available?
Availability depends on the alloy, temper and thickness; send the thickness, width and length you need and sizes will be confirmed at quotation.
10How do I get a price and delivery date?
Send the alloy and temper, thickness, size or cutting drawing, quantity, destination and required date through the enquiry form below, by WhatsApp or by phone.
