250BHN plates

Wear-resistant plate at 250 BHN hardness

250BHN plate is wear-resistant plate of about 250 Brinell hardness, used for crushers, hoppers, shovels, screens, mixers and similar equipment exposed to abrasion. It is used for liner plates, conveyor and dumper-body plates, loaders and pumps. For a quotation, send the thickness, plate size or cutting drawing, quantity, any impact-test requirement and the delivery destination.

250BHN plates

Champak Industries prominent Supplier and Stockiest of WEAR RESISTANT STEEL PATES, Hardox® PLATES, SUMIHARD PLATES, BQ PLATES, ALLOY PLATES, SAILHAR PLATES ETC. WEAR RESISTANT STEEL PATES is used in areas where there is likely to be a high degree of abrasion or wear of the steel plate. Steels with a high HB rating (Brinel Hardness) are intended for applications where wear or abrasion resistance is important.

Reading the text: “Pates” means plates, “BQ plates” are boiler-quality plates, “SAILHAR” means SAILHARD and “Brinel” means Brinell. Hardox is a trade mark of SSAB.

The benefit of using an abrasion resistant steel is that that the plant, machinery or constructions working life can be extended considerably. This can significantly improve the reliability, durability and safety of structures and equipment. It also helps to reduce the maintenance costs associated with wear and breakdown of plant. 400 HB steel is over 3 times harder than mild steel (120HB), but only a third as hard as stainless steel (1250HB) Abrasion & mechanical wear-resistant steel plates.

Hardness comparison: The figures for stainless steel (1250 HB) are not correct: austenitic stainless steel is much softer, roughly 150–220 HB, and mild steel is about 120 HB. A 400 HB plate is therefore about three times harder than mild steel but harder than austenitic stainless steel.

Choosing Between the Hardness Grades

The plates in this group are chosen by hardness. The 200 and 250 BHN grades suit moderate abrasion and are easier to cut, form and weld than the 400–500 HBW plates on the Wear Resistant Plates page.

Cutting, Fabrication and Welding

Champak Industries describes full and part plate/profile supply and a plasma-cutting service. Send drawings, quantities, tolerances and edge preparation for your parts. High-strength plate needs controlled preheat, interpass temperature and heat input when welding, and forming limits depend on the grade and thickness; follow the mill’s recommendations.

250BHN plates: Frequently Asked Questions

01

What is 250BHN plates?

250BHN plate is wear-resistant plate of about 250 Brinell hardness, used for crushers, hoppers, shovels, screens, mixers and similar equipment exposed to abrasion.

02

What is 250BHN plate?

Wear-resistant plate of about 250 Brinell hardness, listed for construction machinery, conveying plants, crushing plants and similar equipment.

03

How does 250 BHN compare with other hardness classes?

It sits between the 200 BHN plates and the 400–500 HBW plates: harder than 200 BHN, easier to process than 400 and above.

04

Which hardness range does this page list?

The “Our range” paragraph lists 200–500 BHN, 200 and 250 HBW, 400, 450 and 500 HBW, and many mill brands.

05

Can 250BHN be welded?

Yes, with low-hydrogen consumables and the preheat and interpass temperatures the mill gives for the grade and combined thickness.

06

Which certificate should I request?

An EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate showing the brand and grade, heat number, chemistry and mechanical properties, plus impact results where you specify a test temperature.

07

Can another brand replace 250BHN?

Brands of the same class are comparable, not identical. Chemistry, toughness, thickness range and processing advice differ by mill, so confirm any substitution with your engineer.

08

Can 250BHN plate be cut to size?

Yes. Champak Industries lists full and part plate and profile supply and a plasma-cutting service; send drawings, quantities and tolerances with your enquiry.

09

Which sizes are available?

Availability depends on the grade, mill and thickness; send the thickness, width and length you need and sizes will be confirmed at quotation.

10

How do I get a price and delivery date?

Send the grade, thickness, size or cutting drawing, quantity, destination and required date through the enquiry form below, by WhatsApp or by phone.
