These are easily available at economical price range in the market.
Reading the introduction: The second line means abrasion-resistant steel plates in grades 200, 400, 450 and 500. AR 400 to AR 500 plates are not normally as-rolled: they reach their hardness by quenching, with or without tempering, and as-rolled plate is much softer. Grade “200” is not among the hardness classes in the range below, so ask what hardness the mill guarantees for it. “Verious” means various.

Compare Hardness Classes Before Purchasing
| Class | Nominal hardness | Typical use | Forming and welding |
|---|---|---|---|
| 400 | About 400 HBW | Dumper bodies, chutes, hoppers, screens | Cold bending and welding with normal care |
| 450 | About 450 HBW | Buckets, liners and heavier wear parts | Larger bending radii; preheat thicker sections |
| 500 | About 500 HBW | Cutting edges, crusher and severe-abrasion liners | Limited forming; strict cutting and welding procedures |
Each mill guarantees its own hardness range, which can fall with thickness. Check the datasheet of the brand you order.
How to Select the Right Wear Plate
Type of wear
Sliding abrasion from sand and fine ore favours higher hardness. Heavy impact from large rocks needs toughness as well, so a lower class can last longer.
Fabrication
If the part is bent or welded heavily, 400 or 450 is easier to process than 500.
Service temperature
Wear plates lose hardness if heated above the mill’s limit (often around 250°C). For cold service, specify an impact test temperature.
Brand requirement
State whether the drawing names a brand, or whether any brand of the hardness class is acceptable.
Applications and Service Requirements

| Sector (from the specification) | Typical wear plate parts |
|---|---|
| Mining and quarrying | Buckets, dumper bodies, crusher and screen parts |
| Process industries | Chutes, hoppers, cyclones and wear liners |
| Material handling | Conveyor transfer points, skirt plates and bins |
| Construction and earthmoving | Blades, cutting edges and bucket wear parts |
Cut-to-Size Plates, Bending and Welding
Champak Industries describes full and part plate/profile supply and a plasma-cutting service. Send drawings, quantities and tolerances for cut wear parts. Thermal cutting softens a narrow edge zone; thick or hard plate may need preheat before cutting. Weld with low-hydrogen consumables and the mill’s preheat for the grade and thickness. See AR Plates for bending and drilling guidance.
Testing, Material Documents and Traceability
| Requirement | What to identify in the order |
|---|---|
| Mill test certificate | EN 10204 3.1 showing brand and grade, heat number, chemistry and hardness |
| Impact test | Charpy test temperature and minimum energy, if required |
| Traceability | Heat and plate number transferred to cut pieces |
See the company’s Quality Policy for its published policy.
Why Source Wear Resistant Plates from Champak Industries?
Champak Industries’ company profile records its establishment in Mumbai in 1978 and its stockist, import and export activities. This range lists Indian, Japanese and European wear-plate brands in the same hardness classes, so you can enquire for a named brand or compare options for one class.
Wear Plate Price and Quotation
Brand, hardness class, thickness, plate size, quantity, cutting, testing and packing all affect the quotation. Say whether pricing is needed per kilogram, per plate or per finished piece.
Domestic Dispatch and Export Requirements
Give the delivery address, required date and unloading constraints. For export orders, include the destination port, delivery terms and document list.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wear Resistant Plates
01What are wear resistant plates?
Steel plates hardened to a high surface hardness, usually 400–500 HBW, so they last longer than structural steel against sliding abrasion and impact. They are also called AR (abrasion-resistant) plates.
02What is the difference between AR 400, AR 450 and AR 500?
The number is the nominal Brinell hardness. Higher hardness generally gives longer wear life but less formability and more demanding cutting and welding.
03Which brands are listed?
The range covers AR, Rockstar, HB, Fora, Abrazo, Nicrodur, Brinar, Dillidur, BHN, Quard, ARCELOR, Abrex and JFE EH plates, each with its own product pages.
04Are different brands of the same hardness interchangeable?
They are comparable, not identical. Chemistry, toughness, thickness range and processing advice differ by mill, so confirm any substitution with the end user.
05Which plate sizes are listed?
4 mm to 50 mm thick in 2000 × 6000 mm plates, 6 and 8 mm also in 2500 × 6000 mm, and 60 mm in 1800 × 3400 mm. Availability is confirmed per brand and grade at quotation.
06Are wear plates supplied as-rolled?
AR 400–500 plates normally reach their hardness by quenching, with or without tempering. Check the delivery condition on the mill’s datasheet.
07Can wear plates be bent and welded?
AR 400 and 450 plates can be cold-bent with larger radii than mild steel, and all classes can be welded with low-hydrogen consumables and the mill’s preheat. Harder plates need more care.
08What are wear plates used for?
Mining and quarrying, process industries, material handling, construction and earthmoving: for example buckets, dumper bodies, chutes, hoppers and liners.
09Which certificate should I request?
An EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate showing brand, grade, heat number, chemistry and hardness, plus impact results if specified.
10How do I get a price?
